Nuno Almeida appointed as the new Technical Director of Damac
Damac, a Saudi Pro League club, announced on Wednesday that Nuno Almeida, a Portuguese coach, will take over as head coach, succeeding Romanian Cosmin Contra.
The transfer marks Almeida’s return to Arab football. Damac greeted Almeida with a video on their social media site, X (previously Twitter), highlighting his significant coaching experience with clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, Panathinaikos, Zamalek, and Qatar’s Al-Sadd and Al-Shamal.
“Welcome, Nuno Almeida, to the Knights of the South,” the club wrote, signaling optimism for the new chapter.

Almeida has extensive experience in Arab football, specifically in Egypt and Qatar.
He previously assisted Jesualdo Ferreira at Sporting Lisbon, Braga, Zamalek, and Al-Sadd.
During his stint at Zamalek, he helped the club win the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup in 2014-2015.
In Qatar, he helped Al-Sadd dominate domestic competitions from 2016 to 2019.
Almeida also served as head coach of Egypt’s Pharco FC during the 2021-2022 season, his first head coaching position.
