Al Ettifaq vs. Al Tai: Match Report

We bring you the match report as we saw, before the Al-Tai match, Ettifaq had a strong start to the season, winning four of their first six games to sit in fifth place.

After a last-second victory over Al-Tai at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, they were able to increase their winning streak even further.

Georgino Wijnaldum managed to score his first goal in Saudi Arabia after less than two minutes in just his second game for Ettifaq.

In the first half, Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah scored twice to give his team the lead before Jordan Henderson’s assist allowed Moussa Dembele to make it 2-2.

Bernard Mensah completed his hat trick nine minutes after the break, but Georginio Wijnaldum equalized in the 72nd minute, and a goal from Moussa Dembele in the 93rd minute gave Ettifaq the victory.

With five victories under his belt, Gerrard has surpassed former Al-Taawoun manager Nestor El Maestro to hold the record for the most management victories by an Englishman in Saudi Pro League history.

With the victory, Ettiaq rose to third position in the Saudi Pro League standings, just one point behind Al-Hilal, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Tarek Hamed’s Damac FC.
