Al Ittihad vs Al Fateh: Match Report
We saw on Thursday night, N’Golo Kante scored his first goal for Al Ittihad, and it was an absolute rocket that gave them the victory. With 18 points from seven games, Al Ittihad has reclaimed first place in the Saudi Pro League Standing, one point ahead of Al Hilal, who are considered to be their biggest rivals.
Our French midfielder joined on a free transfer after his Chelsea contract expired, becoming one of many Premier League stars to leave the English top division for a stint in the Middle East. After becoming one of the top central midfielders in the division, injuries destroyed the 32-year-old’s final few years in England.
This game, Kante and team were up against it after trailing 1-0 at home to the team that is presently in seventh position in the standings, but two goals just before halftime were enough to turn the game around and secure the three points.
The first of those comeback goals was scored by Romarinho, a Brazilian attacker, who brought his club to within one goal before seeing his new partner score an incredible goal. Kante was quick to seize control of a stray ball at the edge of the penalty box as halftime drew near and the score was tied.
The opening couple of touches by the former Leicester City player’s were top-notch, skipping through the opposition player’s challenge and setting himself up well to face the strike. Following move by Kante was jaw-dropping as he rifled a shot through the crossbar and into the top corner.
