Al Ittihad vs Al Hazem: Preview

Al Ittihad and Al Hazem will square off in Gameweek 11 of the Saudi Pro League on Thursday night at the Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium.

After ten games, the hosts have 20 points in the league standings and are in fifth place; the visitors, on the other hand, are currently in 17th place with just six points.

Al Ittihad has had some difficulties after enjoying a strong start to their championship defense, which included four wins in a row in their opening four games of the season. They will view this as an ideal chance to get back on track.

Following the international break, the Tigers’ record has been three games without a win, two draws, and a loss. Last week, they played out a 1-1 draw against Al Taawon.

But, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team defeated Al Quwa Al Jawiya 1-0 on Monday night, maintaining their perfect record in the AFC Champions League. Abderrazzaq Hamed Allah scored the game’s winning goal in stoppage time.

The hosts will go into this game with confidence despite that lackluster performance because they have defeated this opponent 3-0 in their last three encounters and have won their last three matches overall.

The recent result saw the defending champions drop six points behind the league leaders, but a victory here will provide them much-needed momentum going into their King’s Cup Round of 16 match against Al Feiha in midweek.

Al Hazem’s ascent to the top of the table has not gone as planned thus far, as they find themselves in the drop zone after ten games, albeit it is still quite compact at the bottom of the league.

After losing their first nine league games of the season, the Hazemies last week defeated Al Raed 4-3 at home in a vital match that was critical to their survival in the bottom half of the standings.

With a goal apiece from Mohammed Al Thani and Muhammad Badamosi in each half, Comoros international Faiz Selemani gave his team the much-needed three points to move them off the bottom of the standings.

With 26 goals given up in just 10 games, Daniel Carreno’s team already has the poorest defense in the league. If he wants to salvage any sort of success this season, he will have to rectify this issue.

Team News

Marcelo Grohe will continue between the sticks for the hosts as Abdullah Al-Jadani is still out due to cruciate ligament damage.

In defense, Jota is ineligible for selection, and Ahmed Hegazy (cruciate ligament) and Aseel Abed (hernia) are expected to be out for some time.

Since the attacking trio of Al-Thani, Badamosi, and Selemani all scored against Al-Raed last week, the visitors are expected to stick with the same attack for this game.

Mohammed Abousaban should start in place of Ben Hassan Traore, who was substituted as the deepest-lying midfield player after he was carted off the field last week shortly after the half-hour mark due to an injury.
